Glamping Bell Tent

Tucked away in a nine-acre hay meadow, Pipistrelle is a place to slow down, switch off, and sink into something simpler. No crowds, no noise – just you and a wide open meadow overlooking the valley, perfectly positioned to face south-west for long, lazy afternoons and unforgettable sunsets.

As the sun dips behind the valley, the sky comes alive with colour. Evenings here are for watching the light fade, listening to owls call, and spotting bats dancing overhead – pipistrelles, from the Latin meaning “creatures of the evening”. By night, the dark skies reveal a canopy of stars rarely seen, and by morning, you’ll wake to birdsong and drifting mist.

This is off-grid glamping at its purest. Your bell tent is thoughtfully simple – comfortable bed, seating, and space to unwind – designed to keep you connected to the meadow around you. Hammocks invite lazy afternoons, and every view leads you back to the wide sky and rolling valley beyond.

Just a short stroll (around 150 metres) from the tent, you’ll have access to a private cottage with a fully equipped kitchen, open-plan dining and lounge area, and a bathroom with shower-over-bath. There’s also a courtyard garden with a firepit and BBQ – perfect for slow evenings outdoors – giving you comfort when you need it, while keeping the spirit of outdoor living.

Two gentle horses, Cassie and Lily, share your meadow, alongside an abundance of wildlife – deer, foxes, hares, owls, bats, and more. It’s a place where nature carries on around you, uninterrupted.

Guests park in a nearby car park and take a wheelbarrow across the meadow to the tent – part of the charm, and the gentle beginning of your escape.

Pipistrelle is a couples-only tent – no children and no dogs – set within a peaceful working farmstead that’s also home to a small number of holiday cottages and our family house.

We also offer alpaca walking experiences and have a hillside hot tub available by separate booking.
