North Devon is the home of outdoor adventuring in England
If you enjoy an energetic, high octane holiday, Tangled Bank is the perfect base.
For cyclists there are a number of ways to enjoy the local landscape; the Tarka Trail offers a 30 mile, relatively flat, traffic-free route through woodland and along the estuary – great for a family day out and easily accessible. For a little more adrenaline, hit the slopes for some tricky mountain biking or if you’re more of a road cyclist, Exmoor offers inspiring and challenging circuits to enjoy along the coast. The beaches around North Devon offer superb surf for long and short boarders across the country. There are plenty of water sports to try too – from paddle boarding to sailing and diving, not to mention kiteboarding, kayaking and coasteering!
If you’d prefer something a little calmer, Exmoor encompasses beautiful walking country with a stunning mix of scenery, allowing routes for all abilities. If you’re looking for a longer distance trail, the South West Coast Path runs the length of North Devon, whilst the newly opened Coleridge Way offers a scenic alternative.
We can signpost you to some delightful walking and cycling routes from the doorstep, and we have maps you are welcome to borrow. There’s bike hire available locally in South Molton.
At the end of a long day why not treat yourself to a soak in the hot tub, or unwind in a hammock in the Alpaca field.
Uncomplicated comfort, connecting you with nature
Feed the alpacas and search for eggs for breakfast. Make new friends at fireside gatherings. Laze in a hammock, spot wildlife in the woods or delve through the games trunk. Cook up a smoke-licked family feast in the Dutch oven, count the stars as night falls, enjoy a glass of something lovely in the hot tub as the sun sets over the valley.
