Our Story
Tangled Bank started out life as quiet yearning for a greener way of life. A distant dream, involving fields of grass, wild woods, birdsong, starry skies. But it was hard to imagine how we could ever up sticks and leave the big city. And so for years we made do by lavishing our annual leave on beautiful ‘stay-cations’ in England’s glorious south-west. We loved the rugged beauty of Dartmoor and Exmoor, and the stunningly dramatic North Devon Coast, but we always struggled to find the perfect place to stay. Somewhere where you could reconnect with the natural world, without losing the little luxuries that matter.
And then a small green shoot of an idea began to take hold. What if we could create that perfect place?
When we saw Venn Farm was for sale, we knew we had found our dream home. We knew we had to go for it. We took the plunge, left our jobs, sold up, and finally moved in November 2019.
We live here with Zoë’s mum Pippa and her rescued dog Alfie, our two horses Lily and Cassie, the alpacas Virgil & Raisin, our cats Mia and Charlie, and an unruly flock of chickens, not to mention the wildlife that we share this place with. Every day we have to pinch ourselves to make sure we are not dreaming; we are so lucky to call this beautiful haven our home. We hope you will enjoy being here as much as we do.
