A Day at Home on the Farm

For the days you just can’t be bothered to leave Tangled Bank, there’s still plenty to fill the day.

The sun shines on the east facing cottage gardens in the mornings, making this the perfect spot for a lazy alfresco breakfast. If the hens are feeling generous you can have some fresh free range eggs on us!

With eighteen acres of private meadow and woodland to explore, plus footpaths from the doorstep, getting out into the fresh country air couldn’t be easier. There are maps and local walking routes available in the telephone box for you to borrow. For our four legged friends we also have a large dog exercise paddock on site.

Stroll up to the alpaca meadow, where you can enjoy far reaching views to Dartmoor. Take a book or a drink with you and idle away a sunny morning lazing in a hammock – the alpacas will almost certainly wander over to say hello to you!

If you feel like getting to know the alpacas a little better why not book an alpaca walking experience – you get to visit parts of the farm not normally available to visitors and spend time getting up close and personal with Jose and Chester, our younger alpacas.

The children’s outdoor play area and games barn are always available. Stocked with ping pong, badminton, board games, pedal tractors and a large trampoline among other things, there’s even a snug at the back where you can curl up on the sofa with a good book. The Games Barn is brilliant fun in all weather – but a god send on a rainy day!

Our friendly chickens are always entertaining, and eager to be fed, and Lily and Cassie the horses love to meet our guests. Sit quietly by the pond watching the wildlife, or take a picnic into the meadows and just relax.

The south-west facing sun terrace is the perfect spot for evening drinks, or you can treat yourselves and book our secluded hillside hot tub to watch the sun set and the stars come out – you might even see the barn owl fly over.

There are Weber BBQs, firepits and Dutch ovens in the cottage back gardens, with some camp fire recipe cards available for you to borrow from the phone box. Help yourselves to herbs from the planters and cook up a fire-licked family feast to enjoy under the stars.

And if you don’t feel like going out, your cosy country cottage has everything you need to curl up and watch the weather roll across the valley in comfort from your window.
